CORDY'S CASTLE IS NOW A LICENSED WILDLIFE SANCTUARY!

If you find a wild animal in need you may contact us for instructions, guidance, or to take them in for you if we have space. In our first full year we have taken in hundreds of animals including raccoons, opossums, squirrels, chipmunks, flying squirrels, bats, groundhogs, a fox, mice, sugar gliders, and more. We successfully released two litters of raccoons that we raised from babies with their eyes closed and dozens of opossums, squirrels, and other small wildlife. We are the only listed licensed wildlife rehabber in the southern Indiana area and we serve Clark and Floyd and surrounding counties. We have been known to take animals from as far as 2 hours away if they cannot find another rehabber to help. We specialize in orphaned babies but we also take in injured wildlife if we know we can treat them. If not, we will refer you to someone who can.

Meet Cordy!

Cordy is the namesake for Cordy's Castle. She was a rescued glider that suffered from cerebellar hypoplasia, more commonly known as the WIGGLES. This is a permanent, limiting, neurological condition that is easily preventable with proper breeding ethics. She had no equilibrium which causes her to see upside down, so she prefers to hang upside down so the world around her is clear. We lost Cordy on October 15, 2025 at the ripe age of 7. She is loved and missed every day.
Here at Cordy's Castle we advocate for small animals in the public through EDUCATION, RESCUE, and SANCTUARY. We currently have close to 100 animals including 50+ sugar gliders as permanent residents.

Education

Cordy's Castle visits at least one exotic pet show every month, offering education and guidance on a variety of small animals. While sugar gliders are our specialty, we have other small animals as well. If we don't know the answer, we will help you find someone who does!

Rescue

There's a lot of controversy on what the word "rescue" means. Some people argue it's "re-homing" if money is involved. Others feel that the removal of an animal from a situation where they are not receiving adequate care, even if it means buying them from someone who refuses to surrender them otherwise, still qualifies as a "rescue". Here at Cordy's Castle, we aren't worried about semantics. We care about helping animals in need and networking with others who share the same passion.

Sanctuary

Many of the babies we take in are unhealthy, geriatric, ill-tempered, and are otherwise poor candidates for re-homing. We feel these little ones deserve just as much love and care as the others. For these residents, we provide a nurturing home for them to live out the rest of their little lives knowing they are loved, safe, and secure.
Statement of Purpose

This corporation is organized exclusively for the following charitable and educational purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code. This corporation strongly believes that all small lives matter. By discouraging impulse purchases and educating others, we hope to decrease the number of sugar gliders and other small pocket-pets being neglected, mistreated, and abandoned at pet shops, rescue shelters, and other places. We are dedicated to providing a safe, healthy, and enriching environment to the small pets in our sanctuary; providing assistance, direction, and mentorship to other small animal parents in need; educating owners, breeders, veterinarians, animal vendors, and prospective owners in the proper care, treatment, and emotional and physical needs of these amazing little creatures. Fundraising to support this will be achieved through solicitation and acceptance of contributions from individuals and other methods or events as the Board of Directors of the Organization desire to utilize. No proceeds of this corporation will enrich any individual except reasonable compensation may be paid for services to the corporation.
